Takai Tyler brings decades of nonprofit leadership, youth development expertise, and a deep commitment to equity and community empowerment to the Aid Through Art Board of Directors. With a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Child Psychology from Macalester College, a Master of Social Work from San Francisco State University, and certification as a Professional Coach, Takai has dedicated her career to helping young people, families, and communities thrive.

For more than 25 years, Takai worked alongside children and families in San Francisco's Bayview Hunters Point community, where she developed innovative programs that combined leadership development, community service, and urban agriculture to empower young African American girls. She later served for 14 years as Co-Executive Director of Hunters Point Family, helping guide the organization's vision, growth, and impact. Today, she serves a Chief Executive Officer of Girls Leadership, a nonprofit organization that equips schools and youth serving organizations with the resources and training to create environments where girls exercise the power of their voice and are inspired to lead.

Throughout her career, Takai has served on numerous boards and advisory councils dedicated to youth wellness, trauma-informed care, violence prevention, and community health. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to creating opportunities for healing, resilience, and transformation through an equity-centered approach.

In addition to her nonprofit leadership, Takai is a certified professional coach and an advocate for adoptive families, providing mentorship, support, and guidance to parents and caregivers. Her experience in leadership development, community engagement, and fostering environments where individuals feel seen, valued, and empowered makes her a valuable member of the Aid Through Art Board, helping advance the organization's mission of inspiring healing, connection, and positive change through creativity.
